U.S. demonstrates its will on further development of coop with Azerbaijan: Ali Hasanov

U.S. President Barack Obama's congratulatory letter sent to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of fulfilling the presidential powers, first of all, is regarded as a sign of his respect and esteem, head of the Public and Political Issues Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov told Trend on November 8.

While commenting on some features of the congratulatory letter, Hasanov said Azerbaijan was always true to the strategic partnership relations with the United States.

According to Hasanov, until now Azerbaijan has implemented all its obligations in the sphere of strategic partnership with the country at the appropriate level.

"The U.S. and Azerbaijan have established a strategic partnership in various fields for 20 years since Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev's administration," Hasanov said.

"We have implemented all Azerbaijan-related provisions of these strategic partnership relations," he said.

"However, Azerbaijan has certain expectations from the U.S., to which we have not received sufficient or necessary response yet," Hasanov said. "So, we had some dissatisfaction with regard to the United States.

"Of course, it is necessary to emphasize that by this letter, President Obama clarified the issues associated with most of these expectations," Hasanov underscored.

"In his letter, the U.S. President said that his administration is loyal to the policy of further intensifying the cooperation on common challenges between the two countries," Hasanov added.

According to Hasanov, first of all, this gives reason to believe that the U.S is determined to take important actions to develop the cooperation in all areas between the countries in the nearest future.

"Azerbaijan pins great hopes on it," Hasanov said.

"It is important that the congratulatory message includes the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as one of the major points, which has been put by Azerbaijan to the forefront in the relations with the United States for a long time," He stressed.

"In his congratulatory message, President Obama said that he is paying attention to this painful problem, namely, the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. President Obama is ready to continue cooperating on the conflict settlement with President Aliyev," Hasanov noted.

According to Hasanov, as the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing country, the U.S will focus on the problem. "President Obama has shown his determination to continue further efforts to resolve the conflict together with the OSCE Minsk Group other member-states and to remove the existing status quo."

He said Azerbaijan appreciates this because first of all the country expects the U.S, as a strategic partner, to support in searching for the solutions to the most painful problem of Azerbaijan - Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict - in accordance with international law and resolving the conflict.

Hasanov also stressed that the further support stated in the letter for all trans-national, energy, transport, communication projects, the author of which is Azerbaijan, is of great importance for Baku.

"Azerbaijan needed the U.S moral, material and international support in the implementation of the projects, beginning from the Baku- Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, to the Baku- Tbilisi- Erzurum gas pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and now for projects such as TANAP, TAP, TRACECA, East-West communication corridors," Hasanov said. "The U.S. met these needs."

"This letter reflected the U.S. will to continue these projects in the future and Azerbaijan appreciates this," Hasanov said.

"We believe that this is an attempt of assessing Azerbaijan's contribution in the relations between the two countries, which must be positively perceived," Hasanov said. "In general, we believe that proceeding from the interests indicated in President Obama's letter, the US-Azerbaijani relations will further continue. Azerbaijan's policy will be supported by the U.S. This is not only the support of the U.S, but also its partners and allies."

"In his letter, President Obama emphasizes Azerbaijan's economic, social, and cultural development recognized in the world for the last ten years," he said. "This is stressed as the success of the Azerbaijani President and the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is emphasized that as a partner, the U.S will be glad to see the country's further achievements."

According to Hasanov, in his letter, President Obama expressed confidence in further development of democratic processes to achieve the full potential of cooperation and partnership between the two countries, as well as ensuring long-term stability and development in Azerbaijan, which was welcomed by Azerbaijan.

"All this is considered as the U.S perception of Azerbaijan as one of its strongest strategic partners in the region, special importance attached by the U.S to the cooperation with the country. As a partner, Azerbaijan believes in the U.S. and its allies' further support to promote these relations," Hasanov added.
