Vietnam-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group was established at the National Assembly of Vietnam on November 6.

Vice Head of the National Assembly Committee on National Defense and Security, Tran Dinh Nha was appointed the head of the Friendship Group, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The members of the group will be announced by the end of November.

Vietnam does not have an embassy in Azerbaijan, which has made it difficult for Azerbaijani citizens to obtain visas.

Earlier in October, Vietnam simplified the visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens, making it possible for Azerbaijani citizens to obtain a visa upon arrival at Vietnam's airports.

According to the new rules, Azerbaijani citizens only need to provide the relevant documents given by the Vietnamese travel agencies regarding their trip in order to get a visa.

Vietnam recognized Azerbaijan's independence on December 27, 1991, and the two countries established diplomatic relations on September 23, 1992. Vietnam - Azerbaijan relations have been brotherly and traditional.

Cooperation between the two countries is promising in the energy, agricultural, and tourism sectors.
