President Aliyev names cabinet after re-election

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on appointing the country's prime minister on October 22.

In accordance with Article 109 of the Constitution, Artur Rasizade was appointed Azerbaijan's Prime Minister. The order comes into effect from the day of its signing.

On the same day President Aliyev signed a decree naming the new Cabinet of Ministers, in accordance with the Constitution.

According to the decree, Yagub Eyyubov was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister, while Abid Sharifov, Elchin Afandiyev, Ali Ahmadov, Ismat Abasov and Ali Hasanov as Deputy Prime Ministers of the country.

Furthermore, Elmar Mammadyarov was appointed Foreign Minister, Ramil Usubov as Minister of Internal Affairs, Huseyngulu Baghirov as Ecology and Natural Resources Minister, Natig Aliyev as Energy Minister, Fikrat Mammadov as Justice Minister, Salim Muslumov as Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Kamaladdin Heydarov as Emergency Situations Minister, Shahin Mustafayev as Economy and Industry Minister, and Azad Rahimov as Minister of Youth and Sports.

Heydar Asadov will serve as Agriculture Minister, Samir Sharifov as Finance Minister, Abulfaz Garayev as Culture and Tourism Minister, Eldar Mahmudov as National Security Minister, Zakir Hasanov as Defense Minister, Yavar Jamalov as Minister of Defense Industry, Ziya Mammadov as Transport Minister, Ali Abbasov as Minister of Communications and Information Technologies, Ogtay Shiraliyev as Health Minister, Mikayil Jabbarov as Minister of Education and Fazil Mammadov as Minister of Taxes.

The President also appointed the chairs of committees, services and administrations.

President Aliyev signed orders on the establishment of new ministries as well.

In order to improve the structure of public administration, the Ministry of Economy and Industry has been established on the basis of the Ministry of Economic Development.

According to another decree, in order to improve the structure of public administration, the Ministry of Energy has been established on the basis of the Ministry of Industry and Energy.

The President also signed an order on the establishment of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company Closed Joint-Stock Company.

According to the order, to continue institutional reforms in the national economy, increasing the efficiency of local and international transport in the field of maritime shipping and boosting the competitiveness of the country's transit potential, the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company under the state energy company SOCAR has been established on the basis of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet.

The order also referred to the transfer of all property of the liquidated Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet under SOCAR to the new organization.

According to President Aliyev's order, Rauf Veliyev was appointed as Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company.
