Azerbaijani reps attend global conference on child labor

Deputy chair of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Aynur Sofiyeva, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Futurologists Society Reyhan Huseynova and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Brazil Elnur Sultanov attended the III Global Conference on Child Labor held in Brazil on October 8-10.

The main purpose of the conference was to discuss ways of fighting child labor exploitation, to step up exchange of experience between countries and regions, and boost cooperation in eliminating the worst forms of child labor by 2016 in accordance with a relevant convention of the International Labor Organization.

Speaking at the conference, Sofiyeva informed participants about the implemented activities and achievements in this field, as well as the existing legislation on children's rights in Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, Sofiyeva met with Brazil's Vice Minister for Women's Affairs Lourdes Maria Bandeira. Opportunities of cooperation on women's issues between Azerbaijan and Brazil and the importance of mutual exchange of experience topped the discussions.

An introductory meeting was also held between the Brazil-Azerbaijan friendship group at the Brazilian parliament and the Azerbaijani delegation. During the meeting information was provided about the topical issues related to family, women and children in Azerbaijan.
