Ahmadinejad: Iran supports Azerbaijan’s independence

The delegation headed by the chairman of Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, being on a visit to Iran, has met with president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, IRNA news agency reported.

Pashazade transferred a friendly greeting of president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the Iranian president. He expressed gratitude for warm welcome and hospitality.

"We hope that this visit will have even more positive impact on the development of the relations between the two countries. Azerbaijan and Iran have always been supporting each other, and we hope that the relations of these countries will develop further," Pashazade said.

Ahmadinejad asked Pashazade also to give his friendly greeting to the Azerbaijani president.

According to Ahmadinejad, the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are based on brotherhood, religion and love.

"These qualities distinguish the relations of the two countries from other states. Azerbaijan and Iran are two brotherly nations and states. Iran supports the independence and development of Azerbaijan, and we hope that Azerbaijan will continue to develop in the same way. One of the main issues for us today is the further strengthening of relations between the two countries. And those who do not want the development of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan should not even think that they are able to harm anyhow these relationships. There will always be a place for the nation and the state of Azerbaijan in our hearts," the president said.
