Detained two Azerbaijani citizens released in Iran

Research Fellow of the Institute of Literature of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Orientalist Khalida Khalid and her assistant Shamkhal Huseynov detained in Iran have been released, member of Milli Majlis (Parliament), a member of the delegation being in Iran with an official visit, Eldar Ibragimov, told Trend news agency.

The delegation is headed by the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Allahshukur Pashazade.

The information on the release of the Azerbaijani citizens was confirmed by the Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayin.

In the next few days Khalid Khalid and her assistant will be sent to Azerbaijan, Pakayin told Trend.

Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov were arrested on April 30 in Tabriz by officers of the Ministry of Information, Security and Intelligence of Iran, Iranian media reported earlier.

Azerbaijan sent two protest notes to the Iranian Foreign Ministry in connection with the detention of its citizens in this country.
