Cost of state papers up
The prices for Azerbaijani official newspapers Khalg Gazeti
(People's Newspaper) and Respublika (Republic) have risen 50%.
Just like Khalg Gazeti, an issue of Respublika is now selling for
30 Gapiks (35 cents) instead of the previous 20 Gapiks due to
higher costs on printing paper and other publishing expenses, the
publication's executives said. The two papers were founded by the
Department on Presidential Affairs.
Despite the hike, the price per issue of the parliament's official
publication - Azerbaijan newspaper - remains the same, but an
increase is currently under consideration, the paper said.
The prices for independent and opposition newspapers remain
unchanged as well. 525 Gazet, Yeni Musavat, Azadlig, Bizim Yol and
other daily publications have been selling for 30 Gapiks since last
year.
