Fighting emotional fatigue

By Laman Sadigova

Have you ever found yourself feeling somewhat empty and hollow, unable to experience happiness and stability fully?

At times, even the most outwardly fulfilled and successful people experience some levels of emotional tiredness and apathy, as if disconnected from their loved ones and friends - remote almost.

In those moments, hands are moving down and there is no desire to do anything; the joy of life fades, and boredom sets in. When you’re burned out, problems seem insurmountable, everything looks bleak, and it’s difficult to muster up the energy to care—let alone do something about your situation. The unhappiness and detachment burnout causes can threaten your job, your relationships, and your health.

The question is how to deal with it?

The thing you need to remember if you faced this problem is that you need to take care of you for life to be truly rewarding.

Before tackling such difficulties you need first and foremost to tackle the roots if this emotional fatigue.

No need to torture yourself by trying to combat chronic tiredness. To get better you need to heal from the inside out.

First of all, tell yourself to STOP! Be aware of what you are concerned about and try to identify why feelings of joy and fulfillment have left you.

Men cannot always be in a voltage state and constantly be very active. If you listen to yourself, it will become clear that at some point you get tired of all those life "emergencies". Everyone at some point will want out of responsibilities and obligations.

This is why it is important to not to burn the candles on both ends. You need time everyday to reset your batteries and regroup. Put away your laptop, turn off your phone, and stop checking your email! I am not saying that we should encourage pernicious idleness and irresponsibility! But the truth is that a person needs a rest from the buzz of modern life.

Start the day with a relaxing ritual

Rather than jump out of bed as soon as you wake up, spend at least fifteen minutes on you; whether it is meditation, light morning physical exercises, writing in your journal, doing gentle stretches, or reading something that inspires you, this time will help you start the day on a calm and positive note.

Input new bright moments in your life

Creativity and initiative are powerful antidotes. Try something new, start a fun project, or resume a favorite hobby, choose activities that have nothing in common with work. These trifles can indeed make your everyday life brighter and shinier.

Being surrounded by the ugly and the drab take a huge toll on people’s emotional energy. Begin to add some color, some sizzle in your life. It will shift your emotional energy.

Turn to your loved ones for support

By simply sharing your feelings with another person can relieve some of the stockpiled stress. The other person doesn’t have to “fix” your problems; he or she just has to be a good listener. In fact, most friends will be flattered you trust them enough to confide in them, and it will only strengthen your friendship.

Emotional tiredness is an undeniable sign that something important in your life is not working. Take time to think about your hopes, goals, and dreams. Are you neglecting something that is truly important to you? Such emotional fatigue can be an opportunity to rediscover what really makes you happy and to change course accordingly.

Remember that happiness needs to be found in every moment!
