Armenian militaries breach ceasefire with Azerbaijan 116 times

Armenian armed forces have 116 times violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan on the line of contact during the past 24 hours, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry reported on April 29.

Armenian military was using 60, 82 and 120-millimeter mortars, grenades and large caliber guns.

Armenian armed forces located in the village of Berkaber of Armenia's Ijevan district and in the village of Voskevan of Noyemberyan district, opened fire at Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Gizilhajili and Gushchu Ayrim of Gazakh district.

Azerbaijani positions located in the villages of Alibeyli and Kokhanebi of Tovuz district were shelled from the positions located in the villages of Mosesgeh and Chinari of Armenia's Berd district.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani positions located on the nameless heights of Gadabay district, took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Armenia's Krasnoselskiy district.

Armenian army also opened fire from positions near the villages of Chileburt, Yarimja, Goyarkh of Terter district, Shikhlar, Javahirli, Sarijali, Kengerli, Novruzlu, Shuraabad, Garagashli, Merzili, Yusifjanli of Aghdam district, Kuropatkino of Khojavend,

Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli district and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.

Azerbaijani positions also took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

Azerbaijani armed forces inflicted 122 strikes upon Armenian positions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
