The Armenian side has revealed footage of shelling of human settlements and positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, as well as the information about allegedly losses from the Azerbaijani side, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on May 17.

“By disseminating this video, Armenia demonstrated that it periodically shells not only the positions of the Armed Forces, but also the human settlements of Azerbaijan, thereby confirming that Armenia continues provocations against the peaceful Azerbaijani population,” the ministry reported.

The Armenian militaries subjected to intensive fire the positions of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces and human settlements in the Agdam direction of the front using the mortars of various calibers, the ministry added.

The Defense Ministry reaffirmed that as a result of the enemy shelling, peaceful population and military personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces did not suffer any losses and military equipment was not damaged.

Chief Executives of the Agdam and Tartar regions have earlier informed that the Armenian armed forces shelled villages of the regions, but no losses were recorded.

The Armenian side constantly breaches the ceasefire and resorts to attempts of sabotage against Azerbaijan. Over the past 24 hours, Armenia’s armed forces, using large-caliber machine guns and mortars, have 115 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact.

For more than two decades Armenia and Azerbaijan are in a state of war following Yerevan’s aggression, ethnic cleansing policy and illegal territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenia keeps under control over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions in a brutal war in the early 1990s.

Despite a fragile ceasefire agreement signed in 1994, Armenia keeps violating armistice with Azerbaijan.
