Armenian troops breach truce 41 times throughout the day

The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 41 times throughout the day using 60-mm mortar launchers and large-caliber machine guns, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on December 28.

The ceasefire was violated in Ashagi Veyselli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli and Horadiz villages in Fuzuli district, Javahirli, Shuraabad and Merzili villages in Aghdam district, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand district, Goyarkh village in Tartar district, Mehdili village in Jabrayil district as well as nameless hills in Goranboy, Tartar, Fuzuli, Khojavand and Jabrayil districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia for over two decades have been locked in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which emerged over Armenian territorial claims. Since the 1990s war, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions.

After that, the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the occupied Azerbaijani territories, as well as OSCE created the Minsk Group to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. However, the lands are still occupied by Armenian armed forces.
