Armenian militaries keep breaching ceasefire with Azerbaijan

The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 65 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on December 6.

The Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Paravakar village of Ijevan region, Barekamavan village of Noyemberyan region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in Gaymagli village of Gazakh region and Kohnagishlag village of Agstafa region.

The ceasefire was also violated in Goyarkh, Chilaburt, Yarimja villages of Tartar region, Shikhlar, Sarijali, Marzili villages of Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village of Khojavand region, Horadiz village of Fuzuli region, as well as nameless hills in Goranboy, Tartar, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrayil regions.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994 but Armenia continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal.
