Armenian militaries breach truce 38 times throughout the day

The Armenian armed units shattered ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 38 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on December 1.

The Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Paravakar village in Ijevan region, Voskevar and Shavarshavan villages in Noyemberyan region, Mosesgekh, Chinari villages and nameless hills in Berd region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in Kokhanabi and Alibayli villages in Tovuz region, Ashagi Askipara, Farahli and nameless hills in Gazakh region.

The ceasefire was violated near Chilaburt and Goyarkh villages in Tartar region, Shikhlar, Kengerli, Shuraabad, Sarijali, Yusifjanli villages in Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand region, Garakhanbayli and Horadiz villages in Fuzuli region, as well as nameless hills in Khojavand, Goronboy, Tartar and Fuzuli regions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
